The Engineer Manager is responsible for New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering activities associated with Intimidator Group Vehicle Platforms (UTV and Personal Electric Vehicles) and their associated accessories.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

This role will leverage support from other TTC Business Units while also building a dedicated Intimidator Vehicle Engineering Team.

    • Lead and coordinate the development of new product concepts, new products, or improvements to existing products. Create designs that satisfy product requirements as outlined in relevant product specifications and resolve design problems.

    • Perform engineering analysis to predict the behavior of the proposed designs.  Analysis tools may include closed form solutions, or electronic simulation programs.  Computing tools may be from calculators to computers.

    • Develop product design plans including budgets and schedules.  Execute to plan and assist in overall project management functions.

    • Consult with other product design engineers, marketing, research engineers or mechanical designers on proposed product designs.  Provide work direction to designers, drafters, contract/consulting personnel, and others.

    • Work with vendors to finalize designs and implement, in hardware, the needs of the product application.  Develop specifications and working agreements with vendors. Helps assure that the vendor meets the requirements of the design.

    • Perform functions as required by established engineering procedures including project requests through engineering release and change management procedures.

    • Assure that designs meet the requirements of the customer as defined by safety and any applicable industry or Toro standards.

    • Actively participate in the development and understanding of customer requirements through direct contact with marketing, customers, service, manufacturing and distribution.

    • Coordinate work with the product development team members such as but not exclusively: Shop, Test, Drafting, CAE, Quality, Marketing, Purchasing, Plants, Advanced Manufacturing, Sales, Technical Publications, Administration, and Management. 

    • Conduct and participates in regular project team meetings.

    • Responsible for drawing package, bill of material, and product specification.

    •  Responsible for the building of prototypes.

    • Work with test engineers and technicians to develop tests, which simulate the requirements of the customer.  Evaluate test data and develops design revisions to solve problems.

    • Keep abreast of new technological developments, components, concepts, materials, manufacturing processes, or competitive environment, which would affect the design or design process.

    What Do You Need?

    To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

    • Professional Engineering license, or

    • Bachelors degree or higher in an ABET accredited Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, or Agricultural or similar engineering discipline. 

    • Previous work experience in the UTV and/or Powersports industry

    • Minimum of 6-8 years experience.
