Parts Operations Supervisor - The Toro Company

Who Are We?

As a Parts Operations Supervisor you will be responsible for a team of Inventory Control Analysts tasked with maintaining industry leading fill rates at a minimum financial investment. Leads team and provides guidance on techniques to optimize inventory, forecast parts and add value to the Service Parts business.

In addition to supervisory work, directly responsible for the supporting inventory, fill rate, and supply controls for certain key suppliers.  Responsibilities have a significant impact on the customer expectations and company profitability. 

This position requires interaction with many departments, levels of leadership, direct contact with manufacturing plants and suppliers, on a daily basis.

What Will You Do?

• Leads team to meet and exceed strategic objectives. Reviews progress against key performance indicators and coordinates countermeasures with team if metrics aren’t being met.

• Provides leadership to the Parts Supply analysts as they manage ERP/MRP system planning settings to achieve optimal inventory level goals.

• Is responsible for training, coaching and mentoring others and being a day-to-day point of contact for technical issues.

• Point of escalation for direct reports

• Partners with New Product Development and responsible for processing new part ECMs to ensure new model service parts are on-hand as new models launch.

• Point of contact for rework parts and any major part changes on models

• Works closely with Sourcing and other groups within Parts Operations.

• Analyzes data and implements process improvement initiatives.

• Troubleshoots unique and highly complex issues and creates process to prevent the issues from happening again within the team.

• Professionally and appropriately manages best possible service levels from suppliers to best support Toro supply chain team and ensure good supplier relations. Works with suppliers and Toro plants to meet delivery requirements and solve problems.

• Proactively monitors Toro inventory levels of owned inventory located at a supplier and draws conclusions based on analysis.

• Carries out special projects as assigned by the Inventory Control manager and may be required to work on projects within a matrixed environment while influencing internal customers.

• Utilizes and implements Lean tools that will have group wide impact and is responsible for rollout to the group.

• Analyzes and adjusts SAP settings to optimize ordering parameters.

• Analyzes inventory turn data to increase turns.

• Develop economic order quantities, lot sizes, and schedules delivery consistent with required procurement and manufacturing lead-time.

• Conduct root cause analysis on backordered parts.

• Work with engineering personnel and other information sources on bill of material changes. Take action to assure that part inventories are current with changes in design or materials, devoting special attention to the aspects of parts interchangeability and new product development.

• Exhaust all resources to gain shipment of needed part(s) for unit downs.

• Participates in tooling reviews to determine need for a last time buy or retention of tooling.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Leads rapid problem solving sessions.

What Do You Need?

• BA/BS degree in Business, Supply Chain, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred.

• 4 plus years’ experience in Inventory Control, Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain or Analytics.

• Experience forecasting

• Strong business acumen including understanding of how performance affects Toro profits. 

• Proven ability to solve problems independently, with minimal supervision, and strong follow through in a professional manner.

• Strong command of a material requirements planning and inventory control module (SAP preferred).

• Excels at leading teams and projects and can effectively work across the organization.

• Ability to lead cross functional groups

• Leads initiative rollouts group wide

• Leverages both business and interpersonal skills to lead and mentor direct reports.

• Travel up to 10%
