The Design Engineer works as part of a team to engineer and design new products and/or components - this mat include mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Design and develop products, components, or systems to achieve design goals.
Work with the product development team. Includes preparing drawings for manufacturing.
Develop appropriate test specifications and/or test methods. Conduct or direct relevant testing.
Analyze and resolve technical issues for components and products.
Assist with product start-ups. May include working on the assembly line during start-up, establishing QC criteria, helping with assembly procedures, etc.
Assist with engineering publications and communication. Includes communicating relevant information to other Ventrac personnel and departments.
Interface with other departments to accomplish product, project, and company goals.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Level I
Minimum 02 years' experience
Professional Engineering License, or Bachelors degree in an ABET accredited Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or Agricultural engineering program, or Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or Agricultural engineering from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering program
Strong process and problem-solving skills
Level II
Minimum 2-4 years' experience
Professional Engineering License, or
Bachelors degree in an ABET accredited Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or Agricultural engineering program, orMasters degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or Agricultural engineering from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering programStrong process and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Product development experience in the turf equipment, agricultural machinery, or off-road machinery industries
Successfully demonstrated strong written communication
Strong organizational skills
Working knowledge of metal working and welding
Working knowledge of mechanical drives, hydraulics, and 12volt electrical systems.
Ability to bend, squat, walk or stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to occasionally lift 40 lbs.
Self-motivated with excellent project and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to manage work on multiple projects.
Strong interpersonal skills – professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful.
Successfully demonstrated strong verbal communication
Experience with 3D modeling systems (preferably Siemens Solid Edge)
Working knowledge of machines and power & hand tools (including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance)
Safety conscious (for the working environment and product design)
