The Design Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, and improvement of outdoor power equipment and related systems. This position focuses on creating innovative, durable, and cost-effective mechanical designs that meet performance, reliability, and safety standards while supporting Exmark’s reputation for quality and innovation.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Design and develop components and systems for turf, landscape, and other outdoor power equipment using CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, or similar).
Create and manage 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, electrical, testing, and marketing to ensure design intent and product performance.
Conduct engineering analyses such as tolerance stacks, stress analysis, and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
Support prototype builds, design validation testing, and field evaluations.
Investigate and resolve product performance or quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective action.
Maintain design documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and Exmark’s internal processes.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Provide engineering support for production, suppliers, and service teams as needed.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Engineer I-0-2 years of mechanical design experience (entry-level candidates with strong internships may be considered).
Engineer II-2-4 years of mechanical design experience (entry-level candidates with strong internships may be considered).
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting (preferably Creo).
Understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes (casting, machining, welding, plastic molding, etc.).
Familiarity with GD&T and engineering documentation practices.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with design validation and testing preferred.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $66900 - $96000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
