The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production of outdoor power equipment. This role focuses on improving productivity, reducing costs, maintaining product quality, and supporting new product introductions in a high-volume production environment.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows for outdoor power equipment assembly and fabrication.
Implement lean manufacturing principles, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with design engineering on new product introductions to ensure manufacturability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and maintain process documentation including work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard operating procedures.
Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, reduce downtime, and improve throughput.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues impacting safety, quality, or efficiency.
Specify, justify, and implement new equipment, tooling, and automation solutions.
Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Partner with maintenance teams to establish preventive maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
2+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in heavy equipment, automotive, or outdoor power equipment industries preferred.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, stamping, painting/powder coating, and assembly operations preferred.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Lean, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
Knowledge of outdoor power equipment design and assembly processes.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $66900 - $96000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
