Your Opportunity:

This entry to mid-level Buyer, NPD Sourcing Specialist role provides foundational support for supply chain and procurement activities under the direct guidance of Level 3/4. The role is responsible for executing transactional tasks such as processing RFQs and setting up new parts, placing and confirming orders, coordinating shipments, processing Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN) and running standard reports. The Level 1 also participates in cross-functional communications and supplier conversations, supports prototype sourcing efforts, and begins to engage with tools like the Toro Supplier List (TSL). The position offers opportunities for learning and development through team collaboration, supplier visits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Title:

The job title will be based on academic and prior years of directly related experience.

  • Buyer I:Bachelor's Degree plus (0-2) years related experience.

  • Buyer II: Bachelor's Degree plus more than two (2+) years related experience.

Work Location: 

  • This role will be based at the Bloomington, MN Toro's International Corporate Headquarters.  Fully remote is not available at this time. 

  • The current team works 3-days on campus, with optional 2-days remote.  

  • Typical office environment as it pertains to lighting, temperature, and noise level when in administrative/operations offices.

  • This position will work closely with key channel partners and must collaborate among a wide variety of internal teams including marketing, retail and sales channels, business segments and more.

  • Travel 10%, domestic and international, an related expense reporting duties.

What Will You Do? Key Responsibilities:  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Run standard reports through SAP, Power BI and Excel.

  • Process RFQs and ECO/ECNs with guidance from the level 3/4.

  • Place and confirm orders in alignment with project plans and coordinate shipments.

  • Participate in cross-functional conversations and communications within ISC.

  • Check existing supplier contracts and learn to navigate the Toro Supplier List (TSL); begin using with guidance.

  • Support prototype sourcing efforts with assistance.

  • Supports multiple areas of the parts procurement process within TTC’s MRP/ERP system. 

  • Engage in and provide input on continuous improvement, lean and productivity initiatives for the role.

  • Attend lunch and learns, supplier visits.

  • Provide support to the project lead.

  • Maintain positive relationships with internal customers to ensure alignment with Toro goals.

  • Ability to troubleshoot routine issues that arise in daily work.

  • Under direction of Manager, Sourcing – NPD, this position supports strategic and tactical sourcing activities for a variety of low, medium, and high complexity, and high-risk materials, components and services. Work is to be performed cross-functionally with marketing, design engineering, advanced manufacturing, manufacturing, test, industrial design and both prospective and existing suppliers. Support prototyping initiatives.

What Do You Need?  

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in Supply Chain Management, Operations or Engineering.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively and diplomatically interact with and meet customer needs (internal and external).

  • Highly self-motivated, ability to work under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple objective concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to maintain composure during high stress situations, remaining focused on the ultimate objective.

  • Capacity to work independently as well as within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and market dynamics for assigned commodities.

  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Suite.

  • Willingness to learn, provide insights and support team initiatives and strategies.

  • Up to 0-10% travel (domestic and international), and related expense reporting duties.

Preferred:

  • Certification through ISM or APICS preferred.

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Suite, SAP preferred.

  • Proficient MRP/ERP, Ariba and SAP® skills a plus

  • Competitive Salary A reasonable salary estimate is $65,000-$85,000 for this opportunity.The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
