The Design Engineer will support both production and development projects within the Commercial Engineering department. This role is responsible for leading design and development initiatives that drive product improvements, cost reductions, and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) enhancements. The engineer will collaborate closely with fellow designers and engineers across the division to support current and, occasionally, new product lines.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Design, develop, and enhance new and existing products and product lines.

  • Evaluate and recommend specifications to ensure products meet technical, functional, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate and participate in feasibility studies, functionality assessments, and quality testing of designs.

  • Lead cross-functional teams involving stakeholders from various divisions to complete product-specific initiatives.

  • Become a subject matter expert in design processes and organizational workflows.

  • Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to meet project milestones and deadlines.

  • Work with vendors to finalize designs and coordinate production implementation, ensuring design requirements are met.

  • Contribute to projects and designs within an established framework.

What Do You Need?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Agricultural Engineering and similar discipline.

  • Proficiency in CAD and inventory management software.

  • Experience with design documentation, product design, requirements gathering, testing analysis, and CAD modeling.

  • Understanding of project management principles, including planning, task estimation, and execution.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Experience Levels:

  • Engineer II: 2–4 years of relevant experience

  • Engineer III: 4–7 years of relevant experience

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineering License or EIT Certification is a plus.

  • Leadership and team development experience is preferred.

Competitive Salary The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between ​$82700 - ​$115000​. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
