Our company designs and manufactures turf maintenance equipment; turf irrigation systems; landscape and lighting products; snow and ice management solutions; agricultural irrigation systems; rental, specialty and underground construction equipment; and residential turf and snow equipment. We market and sell TTC products worldwide through a network of distributors, dealers, mass retailers, hardware retailers, equipment rental center and home centers—as well as online direct to end users.
What Will You Do?
This is an exciting opportunity working with a cross-functional team on Toro’s golf, sports fields, and siteworks systems product lines. This position will focus on Toro’s smart connected products, from the telematics gateway at the machine level to the customer-facing dashboards and fleet management systems. There will be an emphasis on data validation and analytics, developing visualizations that help engineering and marketing teams make product design decisions. This summer internship provides real-world experience and an opportunity to develop skills while working with a team of knowledgeable product design engineers. Other summer activities could include job shadowing, vendor visits, and trips to Toro manufacturing plants and test sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform data validation from the telematics devices on the machine through the entire data lifecycle to ensure clear and accurate end-user data.
- Work with CANbus data at the machine level, data warehouse tools like Snowflake , and data visualization tools like Power BI to interface with machine telematics data.
- Develop visualizations and data analysis tools that help drive engineering knowledge of machine usage.
- Create and manage data visualizations using Power BI to provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, document, and analyze data requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of data- driven presentations and analytical solutions to communicate findings effectively.
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, dashboard design, analysis, and documentation.
- Perform basic scripting and programming tasks.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in an engineering field, Data Science, Computer Science, or a relevant quantitative field.
- In good academic standing. Entering Junior or Senior year strongly preferred.
- The interested candidate should have a desire to learn, collaborate, and effectively communicate in a team setting while achieving a common goal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data visualization tools, particularly Power BI.
- Shall be organized and able to use Microsoft Office programs without much direction.
