The Lead Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the organization’s databases. This role involves planning, development, troubleshooting, and ensuring the availability of data to users and applications. Plays a critical role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of database systems to support the organization's operations and strategic objectives.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related software.

  • Monitor and optimize database performance and capacity, ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage.

  • Implement and enforce database security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access and breaches.

  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.

  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data across databases through regular audits and maintenance tasks.

  • Provide technical support to database users, resolving issues related to database access, performance, and data integrity.

  • Work with developers to optimize database queries and support the development of database-related applications.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Ensure databases comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

  • Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline database management tasks and improve efficiency.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role with 10+ years of experience with SAP Database with Oracle, with hands-on experience in database management, optimization, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong knowledge of database systems (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure SQL), database scripting (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell), and database design principles.

  • Strong Experience with SAP Database Platform Systems - both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in managing and monitoring database systems.

  • Willingness to stay updated with emerging database technologies and adapt to changing database requirements.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Experience:

  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent are preferred.

Flexible Work Arrangements – This team is currently implementing a hybrid work schedule. The opportunity to collaborate in the office and work from home part-time, has promoted team-building and flexibility. 

Competitive Salary The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between ​$101800 - ​$160000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
