The 2026 Summer Internship Program will run from May 18, 2026, through August 7, 2026. Candidates must be available to start on May 18 and participate through the duration of the program.

What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Conceptualize and create designs to satisfy the product objectives related to the specific areas assigned, utilizing 3D CAD software and other tools to do project-related work.
Use engineering principles as well as analytical techniques to ensure that the design specifications of the product will meet the approved specifications, including cost, timing, and performance objectives of the product.
Manage projects with internal cross-functional teams assigned to product programs, and domestic and international vendors.
Prepare technical documentation in the form of layouts, drawings, assembly instructions and analysis reports for assigned tasks.
Research and propose materials and processes to be used in designs.
Develop testing plans for analyzing and validating designs.
Ensure designs meet the durability, performance, manufacturability, and quality criteria of the company plus Toro and industry safety standards.
Analyzes proposed engineering designs using calculations, testing, computer simulation and analysis methods or other techniques as needed.
Procures and coordinates the efforts of outside consultants, labs, suppliers, etc. needed to accomplish the design or other objectives of the project.
Works with Legal on potential patent activities and liability avoidance.
Conduct feasibility studies to reveal idea practicality and potential design or program issues.
Perform continuous improvement activities such as (DCI), (PQI), and Engineering Change Management
Develop and execute releases,BOM, assembly drawings, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
Work with assembly plants and vendors to maintain production.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering related technology (ex. Mechanical, Agricultural, Automotive, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Design.)
Experience with mechanical drafting and design
Proficient with design software such as CREO ProE, Windchill, CREO mechanism, Creo Simulation, or equivalent FEA and CFD software
Experience with advanced battery technologies, smart connected products, robotics, automation, control systems, electric power systems, electric motors and related regulatory/safety conformance is highly preferred.
Exposure to manufacturing process: injection molding, 3D printing, metal fabrication, welding, forming/stamping.
Ability to transfer skills and knowledge from past experience and related technologies to new situations.
Ability to design, document, draft, and evaluate products able to meet customer needs.
Technical ability in mathematical analysis of physical systems and mechanics.
Demonstrated ability to independently accomplish duties and responsibilities as listed.
Able to assist in drafting test protocols and communicate them to test engineering.
Collaborative team player with ability to communicate and work effectively across levels and departments, where flexibility, adaptability, and resiliency are important.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Proven relationship building skills, ability to gain and build support for design initiatives.
Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office applications required, SAP or other ERP systems experience preferred.
