What Will You Do?

As an Embedded Software Engineering Intern, you'll have the opportunity to design cutting-edge embedded software applications for Toro equipment. Whether you're working independently or collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, you'll gain hands-on experience in real-world projects that push the boundaries of technology. Key responsibilities include:

  • Dive into the development, debugging, and enhancement of embedded firmware for electrification and autonomous projects.

  • Be part of the team that investigates, defines, and specifies innovative new products.

  • Collaborate with engineering team members to design and implement high-quality electronics and firmware solutions that meet cutting-edge product requirements.

  • Play a key role in resolving integration challenges that involve multiple electronics, software applications, and developers.

  • Work closely with electronic, system, and software design engineers to help optimize overall product performance.

  • Get hands-on experience in the validation and testing of electronics and embedded software.

  • Assist software engineers in defining interfaces and optimizing hardware/software performance.

  • Thoroughly test and evaluate embedded software to ensure top-notch quality and functionality.

  • Contribute to the creation of detailed hardware and firmware design and validation documentation.

What Do You Need?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, an individual should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Currently a Junior or Senior student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field (required) with interest in embedded systems.

  • Familiar with developing embedded firmware for 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers in C/C++.

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of desktop application development in C++/C# is preferred.

  • Familiar with common communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, RS232, and CAN.

  • Strong understanding of the relationship between hardware and software, with the ability to design systems that integrate both technologies efficiently.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and resolution skills.

  • High degree of integrity and commitment to achieving results.
