As the Sourcing Manager, you will Manages a team of Commodity Managers, Supervisor(s), and Specialists for assigned supply categories in the effective development and execution of strategic initiatives and tactical procurement for the Sourcing organization to include but not limited to contract negotiation and adherence, supplier selection, and supplier performance management.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
- Lead a team of Commodity Managers & Specialists in the development and implementation of category strategies coupled with strong tactical procurement execution to enable our businesses and factories to deliver on our customers’ expectations and achieve our commercial objectives
- Accountable for the overall supplier cost, quality, and delivery performance for assigned spend categories
- Coach and develop team
- Ensure team has tools, skill sets, processes, and training to accomplish goals
- Manage supplier relationships at executive and managerial levels and serve as an escalation point for commercial and operational sourcing issues
- Success Measures include:
- Year-over-year cost improvement
- On-time delivery / service levels
- Spend under contract
- Supplier quality performance (PPM) and corrective action closure effectiveness
- Working capital optimization (payment terms + lead time, VMI, & MOQ impacts to inventory)
- Compliance to sourcing policies and standard work
- Present on team performance in monthly and weekly cadence of reviews
- Develop and implement corrective action and mitigation plans where needed to deliver on KPIs
- Support team in regular quarterly business reviews with key suppliers
- Ensure team is leveraging procurement tools including SAP with best practices for efficiency, execution, and accuracy of procurement data
- Lead and/or approve sourcing events and award recommendations aligned to total cost decision making
- Analyze demand by facility, anticipate changes, and drive subsequent procurement activities
- Identify and launch procurement projects and initiatives to improve processes, analyze effectiveness, and drive results and compliance
- Build strong and resilient supply chains that are cost effective, high performing, and manage risk
- Keep well-informed of external factors that may affect our supply chain as well as changes in our business and technical needs to ensure our category strategies and supply base continue to evolve to enable our stakeholders’ success
- All other tasks and projects as assigned
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA desired, CPIM, ISM, NAPM, CPSM or APICS certification preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years' experience in sourcing (Sourcing Manager I) or minimum of 7+ years’ experience in sourcing (Sourcing Manager II)
- Minimum 1-3 years' experience in supervising (Sourcing Manager I) or minimum of three 3+ years’ experience in supervising (with sourcing professionals preferred) (Sourcing Manager II)
- Demonstrated leadership skills including interpersonal relationship building, team facilitation, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and ability to provide both positive and constructive feedback
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly and concisely communicate information at multiple levels and capable of effective executive management presentations / communications
- Ability to adapt easily to change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced contracting and negotiations skills – win/win approach, strategy and tactic development, knowledge of contracting principles, laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Possess a strong technical background, demonstrating a base level of mechanical understanding; ability to understand physical parts and components based on verbal descriptions or mechanical drawings
- Experience working with and understanding technical specifications, as well as a varied background in commodity areas (such as raw materials, castings, stampings, electronics, engines, etc.)
- Strong analytical capabilities coupled with solid business and financial acumen
- Proven supplier negotiation skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as with ERP planning systems; Experience with SAP is a plus
- Quick study-able to gain a fact based understanding of current supplier base, supplier economics, and major trends in relevant markets
- Passion for reducing costs
- Exhibits high energy and the enthusiasm to establish a new approach to sourcing
- Self-starter and independent worker-able to juggle priorities
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of total time, with ability to operate a vehicle

- Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $100,000 - $155,000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
