The Senior Manager, Materials Strategy and Deployment is a critical leadership role within the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) organization, responsible for establishing enterprise-level governance, strategy, and deployment excellence for materials planning, purchasing, and material flow across the Toro manufacturing network.
This role serves as the single point of ownership for materials strategy development and deployment, enabling improved raw inventory WIP performance, reduced external storage and expediting costs, and improved materials availability across plants. The role will lead and facilitate a new enterprise Center of Excellence (COE), the Materials Standards Board (MSB), and work cross-functionally to define standards, drive best-practice deployment, and ensure alignment across systems, data, and site execution.

Materials Strategy & Governance
Establish and own the enterprise materials strategy, aligned to ISC objectives and Toro Business System (TBS) principles.
Define, govern, and monitor Materials Excellence KPIs, with a primary focus on raw inventory WIP, materials availability, and cost drivers.
Lead development of enterprise standards for materials planning, purchasing, and flow, in partnership with Regional Materials Leaders and systems leadership.
Materials Standards Board (MSB) Leadership
Organize, facilitate, and operationally lead the Materials Standards Board, a cross-functional COE including Regional Materials leaders, systems leadership, and key ISC partners.
Drive alignment across Operations, Technology, Data & Analytics, and site materials organizations to ensure standards are practical, scalable, and deployable.
Own the MSB operating cadence, charter development, initiative roadmap, and execution governance.
Deployment & Change Leadership
Lead enterprise deployment of materials standards and best practices across the Toro plant network.
Partner closely with site materials organizations to support adoption, problem-solving, and capability building—without imposing heavy structural change.
Focus on rapid learning, momentum-building, and targeting “low-hanging fruit” opportunities that deliver measurable results.
Systems & Data Enablement
Provide ISC-level deployment support for SAP Business Network (Ariba) implementation, ensuring materials processes and governance are aligned to system capabilities.
Partner with Data & Analytics teams to improve materials data visibility, enabling root-cause understanding of inventory, availability, and flow issues.
Ensure materials strategy and standards are supported by robust data, reporting, and system governance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Drive stronger collaboration and influence between Supply Management, Operations, and Materials teams, including ownership of enterprise collaboration forums and cadences.
Influence without direct authority across Group Operations Leaders (GOLs), Regional Materials teams, and site leadership.
Serve as a trusted thought partner to ISC leadership on materials performance, risks, and opportunities.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business or similar field
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in various materials and supply chain disciplines
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in budgeting, production control, inventory control, material planningProgressive experience in manufacturing environment demonstrating growth in position and/or responsibility
IBP/SIOP experience in a supply planning capacity
Experience implementing various material signaling concepts such as kanban, min/max, ROP, MRP
Proven experience implementing Lean material flow concepts, systems and tools such as Plan for Every Part (PFEP), pull systems, supermarkets, scheduling boards, tugger routes, etc.Experience with MRP and ERP systems
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide strategy and deployment in complex manufacturing environments
Strong understanding of materials planning, inventory management, and production support processes
Proven ability to lead through influence in highly matrixed organizations
Experience working with ERP and supply chain systems (SAP/Ariba experience strongly preferred)
Preferred:
Experience operating within a Center of Excellence or standards-based governance model
Lean / continuous improvement background (TBS, Lean, or equivalent)
Strong data-driven problem-solving capability
Track record of delivering working capital and cost improvements at scale
Travel 25% of the time between US and Mexico

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $160000 - $185000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
