Do you want to build your Technical Communication portfolio with live published content and cutting-edge technology, while working for an industry leader and household name?
The Technical Publications Department at The Toro Company is looking for an exceptional intern with great ideas, skills, and passion for technical communication and innovation. In this position, you will convert instructional content to the DITA XML architecture, while implementing the principles of minimalism to reduce words and increase graphics and animations. You will use the Windchill content management system, Arbortext Editor, Creo Illustrate, Adobe Illustrator, and Vuforia Augmented Reality (AR) software. You will work with multiple departments and user test your content to ensure it provides great value to our customers.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will:
Create instructional content in the DITA architecture using the principles of minimalism.
Create illustrations and storyboards.
Learn how to create animations and AR experiences.
User test and participate in customer feedback sessions to improve our instructional content.
Use the Toro Style Guide for Technical Content, the Toro Graphics Style Guide, and the Toro Animations Style Guide.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following requirements:
Basic Job Qualifications
Undergraduate or graduate student with two years or less left to graduate in Technical Communication, Professional Communication and Emerging Media, or a related field
Demonstrated experience creating technical instructions
Demonstrated ability in technical illustration
Experience creating videos or animations
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Availability to participate for the duration of the Internship Program full-time
Preferred Job Qualifications
Proficiency with MS software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Familiarity with markup languages, such as XML or HTML
Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Experience with Maya, Adobe After Effects, and/or Camtasia
Interest in mechanical concepts and emerging instructional technologies

Competitive Pay- The anticipated pay range is $18.00-25.00 per hour.
