The Area Business Manager is a critical leadership role tasked with driving sales and margin growth across the Western Region. This position requires a strategic, analytical thinker with in-depth knowledge of the fruit and vegetable industry. The successful candidate will lead a team of 6 District Sales Managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Area Business Manager will ensure that sales initiatives align with Toro Ag’s overall objectives while delivering outstanding customer solutions.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for

    • Team Leadership & Management
    • Provide clear direction, mentoring, and support to a team of District Sales Managers.
    • Foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Develop strategies to motivate the team and achieve aggressive sales targets.
    • Relationship Building & Account Management
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including dealers, distributors, growers, contractors, specifiers, government agencies, and university researchers.
    • Leverage these relationships to drive sales and secure favorable purchase commitments.
    • Business Development & Market Expansion
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, targeting both existing dealers and potential end users.
    • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence to uncover growth opportunities.
    • Collaborate with the team to develop tailored sales programs and promotional campaigns.

    Reporting & Strategic Analysis

    • Report significant regional activities and market insights to the National Sales Manager.
    • Utilize strong analytical skills to assess market conditions and identify new product opportunities.
    • Prepare detailed sales reports that outline current activity, market trends, and future business potential.

    Local & Industry Engagement

    • Actively participate in industry events such as trade shows, dealer functions, and relevant association meetings.
    • Represent Toro Ag in the fruit and vegetable industry, ensuring our products and services remain top-of-mind for key market players.

    Product Integration & Technical Proficiency

    • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of all Toro Ag products and effectively integrate them into sales strategies.
    • Enhance technical expertise, particularly in irrigation solutions for the fruit and vegetable industry.
    • Big plus: Experience with drip irrigation systems is highly desirable, although deep industry knowledge remains the primary requirement.

    Budget & Resource Management

    • Oversee the regional budget, ensuring responsible allocation and tracking of resources.
    • Monitor and manage expenditures in line with company policies and strategic objectives.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Engage in other related duties as required to support Toro Ag’s business goals.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • BS/BA Degree required.
  • Area Business Manager I = 5+ years of professional experience required
  • Area Business Manager II = 7+ years of professional experience required
  • Proven experience in sales management, account management, and business development.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of the fruit and vegetable industry is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented.
  • A background or experience with drip irrigation systems is a significant plus.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 50-75%) to meet with team members, customers, and industry partners throughout the region). #LI-Remote

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $125,000 - $150,000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package.You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
