The Extrusion Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of the production department to meet daily and scheduled output targets in alignment with plant objectives. Ensures product quality, quantity, and employee performance through effective supervision, communication, and continuous improvement practices.
Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $62,500 - $76,500. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package.
What Will You Do?
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise all employees within the assigned area, ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Lead Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings, communicating performance updates and shift priorities.
- Conduct end-of-shift handoff meetings and maintain accurate written shift reports for seamless communication.
- Plan, allocate, and adjust staffing to meet production schedules and workload needs, including overtime coordination.
- Conduct interviews, create job requisitions, and partner with HR and Adecco on staffing and onboarding activities.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and performance feedback; recognize high performers and address developmental needs.
- Monitor training progression, maintain skill matrices, and coordinate cross-training to increase workforce flexibility.
Operational Management
- Drive adherence to production schedules, product specifications, and standard work instructions. Escalate issues in real-time issues keeping adherence.
- Conduct start-up checks, verify tooling and material readiness, and ensure proper line setups.
- Monitor labor and production reports to identify inefficiencies and initiate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and Process Specialists to verify process parameters and optimize performance.
- Monitor downtime and scrap trends through Ignition; escalate issues requiring engineering or quality intervention.
- Support product qualifications, testing, and new product trials as assigned.
Safety, 5S & Compliance
- Maintain a safe and organized workplace through daily and monthly 5S audits and compliance checks.
- Ensure consistent use of PPE and adherence to Lockout/Tagout and other safety procedures.
- Investigate and document all incidents, near misses, and Work Partners cases promptly.
- Submit and track maintenance requests; follow up on critical repairs and safety-related work orders.
- Participate in safety Gemba walks and verify closure of all corrective actions.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct quality and process audits on technicians and operators.
- Review and investigate IDRs (Inspection Discrepancy Reports) and QIRs (Quality Incident Reports) to ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
- Lead or participate in structured problem-solving using A3 and 5-Why methodologies.
- Lead or participate in improvement programs such as RPS (Rapid Problem Solving) and similar initiatives.
- Verify adherence to standard work and ensure corrective actions are documented and sustained.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and complete required leadership and Supervisor Excellence training.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain accurate Tier board data and performance metrics, including labor, scrap, and downtime.
- Track and communicate daily KPIs (OEE, lbs/hr, scrap %, uptime) to management.
- Complete timecard reviews, PTO approvals, and Workday HR actions as required.
- Attend management meetings and provide requested reports, follow-ups, and weekly summaries.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of production and quality documentation.
What Do You Need?
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary or technical education preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years in a manufacturing lead or supervisory role required.
- Hands-on experience with production machinery operation and troubleshooting required.
- Experience in plastics extrusion or molding environments is strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; intermediate level preferred.
- Data-driven with the ability to interpret KPIs and identify trends.
- Skilled in training, coaching, and performance management.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, understand process cause-and-effect, and maintain composure under pressure.

Work Environment
- Primarily in a manufacturing setting without climate control; subject to outdoor temperature variations.
- Average noise level is approximately 85 decibels; PPE including hearing protection required.
- Up to 15% of work time in an office environment using standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
- Must lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted using proper body mechanics.
- Standing and walking on concrete floors up to 75% of the workday; sitting up to 25%.
Travel
- Occasional travel (up to 10%) for training, meetings, or support at other facilities.
