As the ​Materials Manager​, you will be responsible for overseeing Production Control and Supply Chain operations, including supplier management for purchased components, implementation of lean material management processes, production and delivery analysis, inventory accuracy, short- and long-term material and capacity planning, and supervision of functional support staff. This role ensures timely shipments and on-time delivery while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards and overall site metrics.​

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:  

  • ​​​​Maintain reliable systems to sustain inventory levels as established.
  • Identify materials required to meet the production plan.
  • Ensure material supply to production through various methods (kits, Kanban, buffers).
  • Oversee receipt of raw materials and shipment of finished goods.
  • Daily oversight of shipping operations, ensuring compliance with CT-PAT and BASC security processes and on-time delivery performance.
  • Monitor raw material warehouse and inventory accuracy on the production floor.
  • Manage accurate silo inventories, accurate backflushing / adjustments.
  • Implement Lean Materials Management processes.
  • Manage, reduce, and control trailers within the plant.
  • Implement and monitor cycle counting program.
  • Maintain and control Kanban systems across different areas.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety policies and environmental management systems.
  • Support supplier evaluations for key services and products.
  • Adhere to company policies for file management, record retention, and information handling.
  • Comply with all legal requirements related to environmental regulations, workplace safety, and company policies.
  • Report any deviations from laws or regulations to immediate supervisor.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:  

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, accounting, or a related field.
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in similar materials manager role.
  • Strong knowledge of material management systems and lean manufacturing material flow principles.
  • Experience implementing Kanban and inventory reduction strategies.
  • PFEP management expertise.
  • Leadership and team-building skills with proven ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Ability to make independent departmental decisions and consult with senior management when necessary.
  • Experience in budgeting, production control, inventory management, material planning, and direct supervision.
  • Familiarity with international trade concepts (Mexico-U.S.)

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA
  • APICS Certification
  • Green or Black Belt Certification
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $96,400​ - ​$120,500. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
