JOB SUMMARY:
The Technician, Quality analyzes diverse quality situations to result in solutions, verifying the quality of a variety of parts, products and processes. Provides guidance to QA team members in establishing quality control techniques for maintaining and improving the quality of manufacturing operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sets up and implements quality conformance criteria and control charts and monitors for adherence to established QA and Toro standards.
- Assists Engineering and Operations in establishing or changing methods, techniques or materials for existing or new apparatus for the control of quality or improvements.
- Collaborates with Engineering and Operations personnel on related process changes and qualifications.
- Inspects parts or products as required and documents and reports findings, testing results and recommendations.
- Conducts sampling and auditing required to confirm adherence to quality procedures.
- Charts data gathered from various quality checks to be used in analysis, decisions and feedback for quality improvements.
- Identify areas for quality control improvement and implement new methods
- Create new procedures and test to find flows or defects in components and procedures or manufacturing material.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the production process runs smoothly
- Participate in development projects and research to enhance the manufacturing process for new products.
- Inspect raw material to ensure they meet the specification for shape, size and quality of the finish product.
- Maintains calibration program of quality control equipment and performs basic maintenance on equipment, machines, and tools to ensure functionality.
- Assist with training new technicians, teaching them the ins and outs of the job and the specifications, standards and regulations to be met.
- Monitors quarantined inventory levels and manages physical movement, identification and material transfers within SAP.
- Maintains a safe and healthy workplace for employees in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Promotes a positive attitude towards safety. Adheres to the requirements of Company safety policies as well as safety rules, instructions and procedures.
- Practices continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associates Degree or technical education, equivalency degree preferred but, not required.
EXPERIENCE:
Five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 3 years using inspection equipment and methodologies within a quality management system is required.
SKILLS:
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations, remaining focused on the ultimate objective.
Capacity to work within a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
Basic to intermediate competency level in MS Office.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Must possess good decision-making abilities.
Ability to use instruction, training and analytical skills to resolve process issues.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Manufacturing environment without climate control and is subject to temperatures similar to the outside environment.
Noise levels within the environment average 85 decibels and personal protective equipment (including hearing protection) is required.
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and heat producing equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crawl. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. using proper body mechanics and assistance. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision.
TRAVEL:
0% travel is required.
