Job Summary:

The Set Up Technician supports safe, efficient production by keeping lines running within safety, production, and quality standards. This role is responsible for installing and removing molds and related auxiliary equipment during mold changes.

Wage: $18-20/hour depending on experience

Hours: Training will be Monday through Friday 7am to 5pm. Candidate needs to be able to move to night shift and weekends after training.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs trouble-shooting and preventive maintenance on molds and related peripheral equipment.
  • Must be able to safely install and remove molds from injecting molding machine according to the working procedures.
  • Prepare and submit Daily Log sheet, MRR (Mold repair request) and PM (Preventive maintenance request) as required in a clear and concise manner.
  • Adheres to approved Company, Safety, and Department policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of injection, molding functions (i.e. hot runner systems, unwinding mechanisms, KO functions, core pulls, and unwinds, cooling etc).
  • Practices continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste including work instructions/training.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Technical Vocational School desired
  • Proficient in English language desired

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years as a backup mold set up technician or related desired.
  • Working knowledge of mold set-up functions and procedures, working knowledge of injection molding tooling functions (i.e., hot runner systems, unwinding mechanisms, KO functions, core pulls and unwinds, cooling, etc.) desired.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Familiar with Toshiba and Toyo machines and controls.
  • Must be familiar with resin processing, PVC, glass-filled nylon, glass-filled polypropylene, ABS, polyethylene, and acetyl. 
  • Basic Knowledge and understanding of mechanical concepts, auxiliary equipment functions, electricity, safety switches, sensors, Volt Meters, Thermalators, heater controllers, robotics, hand tools and pneumatic tools.
  • RJG training preferred.

Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with team leads and supervisors in coordination with production. 
  • Basic mathematical skills are required.
  • High level of organizational skills. Logs, checklists and inspections records must be maintained orderly and legible.
  • High sense of urgency. Escalate potential Safety, Process and/or Quality issues.
  • Promotes a positive attitude towards Safety.
