Field Technical Instructor, Power Equipment - Ventrac

The primary role of this position is to support and coordinate our high-level training programs to Ventrac Dealers. This includes training both in-house and at dealer locations across the world to Ventrac dealers and customers. This position will also include the training on how to troubleshoot, repair, and resolve field product concerns. Travel time required will be approximately 75% with much time spent training and working with dealership personnel at their dealer locations across North America. In addition to service training duties, this position will assist our Territory Sales Managers with demonstrations and dealer setups as needed.

This opportunity is based out of Ventrac in Orville, Ohio.Candidates should prepare for either 5 days on site, or being dispatched out for assignments 75% travel internationally and domestic USA, for the majority of the schedule.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with the Toro Company - Ventrac Division, you will be responsible for:

  • Travel to dealerships and end users to troubleshoot problems, make repairs and resolve concerns. Technical Support & Customer Service for dealers as needed. Build and maintain a good rapport with dealership personnel.

  • New Dealer Training (both domestic and international); conduct product and application training for dealer staff. Train dealership staff on warranty guidelines, limitations, and procedures. Train dealer technicians through service schools, video presentations, and web-based learning.

  • Dealer Service Schools (in-house, regional, and international); Provide in-depth technical explanation of our systems including troubleshooting basics, critical repair procedures and proper maintenance practices for dealer service teams. Perform service clinics at dealerships for end user technicians and operators.

  • Train parts, service, and warranty staff on how to use our Dealer Network Website.

  • Determine warranty, evaluate failures, find probable cause, and decide if further action is required during field service calls. Address product concerns or failure trends with the Service department and other departments as needed.

  • Attending Ventrac trade shows as a technical expert.

What Do You Need?

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a valid US Passport for frequent international and Domestic travel.

  • 5+ years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial turf equipment including small gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic system and 12-volt electrical systems preferred. 2+ years’ experience training technicians on how to repair and service Ag, Auto or Commercial Turf equipment preferred. 2+ years of certified training in Ag/Diesel or Sports/Commercial Turf equipment repair preferred.

  • Previous work experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing Ventrac equipment preferred. Prior experience working in Technical Customer Service preferred.

  • Confident in public speaking and/or teaching in a classroom environment with the ability to connect with the audience and hold their attention. Must enjoy speaking with, instructing, and interacting with people from various backgrounds, languages, and ethnic groups (including using an interpreter). Ability to maintain composure and communicate effectively with a wide variety of consumers/markets.

  • Prior Experience troubleshooting and working with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems with the ability to deliver in-depth presentations and develop accurate training materials for them.

  • Strong people skills – professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful. Initiative-taking with excellent project, time management and organization skills.

  • Excellent computer and keyboarding skills (Microsoft Office, Internet). Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

What Do You Need?

  • Require up to 75% travel time, internationally and within the domestic USA.

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a valid US Passport for frequent international and Domestic travel. Must have or are able to gain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time; physically able to operate, work on and repair Ventrac equipment including bending, kneeling, or laying down to work on it. 

  • Able to occasionally lift 45 lbs.
