The Mechanical Design Engineer provides expertise within the department for mechanical components and systems for Ditch Witch and Subsite branded products. Primary duties include supporting new product development and existing products currently in the market. This employee will use CAD software to create model files of mechanical components and work closely with project stakeholders and the rest of the development team. This employee will work closely with various component suppliers and perform other duties as assigned.

Collect and analyze technical information from a variety of sources, including:
conversations with engineers, product managers, suppliers, etc.
technical documents.
operation of equipment.
their own tests & experiments
May direct and physically participates when needed in the construction and testing of prototypes to evaluate the design and functionality of the product.
Solicits and evaluates input from various sources concerning product design and functionality to meet project and customer requirements and manufacturability of product designs.
Review product designs for compliance with standard engineering practices, company and industry standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
Meet or exceed typical expectations for creativity, productivity, quality and safety.
Coordinates product sustaining activities with other personnel, including the flow of information and documentation to other departments.
Evaluates feasibility and applicability of newer technologies and methods to existing products and designs.
Work Environment
Office environment most of the time with regular trips to the shop and outside work.
Shop and outdoor environments include physical hazards such as utilities (typically gas, electric, and water lines), powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, and moving machinery. Outdoor environment includes work in all kinds of weather while operating and demonstrating machinery and construction site conditions such as open excavations, unimproved land, uncompleted structures, etc.
Working with hazardous materials, including fuels, lubricants, solvents, and batteries.
Occasional overnight travel.
Rapidly changing workload, priorities, demands, schedules, and deadlines.
Regular, continuous use of a personal computer.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering field
Engineer I: 0 – 2 years of experience
Engineer II: 2 – 4 years of experience
Engineer III: 5+ years of experience
Knowledge of or willingness to learn the use of CAD software.
Knowledge in the selection and use of materials including plastics, stainless steel, aluminum, or brass.
Knowledge in standard drafting practices and the application of the ASME standards.
Good problem-analysis and resolution skills

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $66900 - $112000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
