Electrical Technician at Ditch Witch:
The Electrical Technician is an entry level position perfect for individuals looking to start a career in the electrical field. As an Electrical Technician, you will work under the supervision of experienced electricians to assist with electrical system installations, repairs, and routine maintenance. You will gain hands-on experience, receive on-the-job training, and be part of a team that values safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What Will You Do?
Assist senior electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including wiring, panels, and equipment.
Support troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve electrical malfunctions using basic tools and diagnostic equipment.
Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to ensure safety and reliability, following safety protocols.
Aid in the installation and maintenance of electrical components, such as circuit boards, transformers, outlets, and lighting systems.
Help with the fabrication of electrical panels, conduit runs, and other components under supervision.
Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order.
Adhere to OSHA safety standards and follow all electrical codes, including the National Electric Code (NEC).
Participate in on-the-job training and development to gain experience and improve skills in the electrical field.
Assist in cleaning and maintaining the work area to ensure a safe and organized environment.
Other duties as assigned.
What Do You Need?
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Hands-on or technical experience is a plus.
Strong willingness to learn and an interest in the electrical trade.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments, including standing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
Basic understanding of electrical systems or a desire to learn is helpful but not required.
Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions from senior electricians and supervisors.
Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics and blueprints (training will be provided).
Prior experience or familiarity with construction or maintenance work is a plus.
Work Environment:
Occasional work outdoors may be required with varied conditions.
Use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and arc-flash protective clothing and suits.
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, climb a ladder, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Operation of scissor and boom lifts.
The shop environment includes variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt.
Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, arc welding and other electrical equipment, and high-voltage power supplies.
Hazardous materials such as fuels, oils, grease, paint, solvents, coolant, pressurized gases, various acids and caustics, cleaners, and metals.
Outdoor environment includes work in all kinds of weather, and construction site conditions such as open excavations, unimproved land, uncompleted structures, etc.
Rapidly changing demands, schedules, and deadlines.
Will need to respond to emergency calls when necessary.
