Typical starting pay rate, $31.01/hr.-$38.76/hr., plus 10% shift differential

Test Technician Lead at Ditch Witch:

The Test Technician Lead is responsible for supervision of entry/mid-level technicians in the Product Proving Department. This person assures timely, accurate, and cost-effective completion of engineering and product validation programs through test technician staffing and training, and direct technical support and involvement. This position independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.

What Will You Do?

  • Provide supervision, instruction, and guidance to assigned technicians.

  • Participate and provide input into performance reviews, evaluate and determine training needs, approve project time charges, direct and assist as needed.

  • Gather pertinent data on the performance of Ditch Witch products and prototypes under prescribed field and laboratory conditions. 

  • Support the engineering design and development of electrical control and automation systems and devices.

  • Provide setup, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of electrical control systems and prototypes.

  • Assist with testing of systems, devices, and instruments.

  • Document testing procedures, and measure and record performance results following established methods.

  • Maintain the inventory of supplies and tools used for testing and maintenance.

What Do You Need?

  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience; advanced level experience in the development and testing of mechanical products.

  • HS diploma or equivalent required.

  • Strong background in mechanical work and equipment operation, including experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical/electronic, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment.

  • Ability to manage and work on multiple projects simultaneously and respond to rapidly changing deadlines/priorities.

  • Prior forklift experience preferred, must be able to obtain company forklift certificate.

  • Current CDL Class A preferred. Must be able to obtain CDL Class A.

  • Be able to regularly handle items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally handle items weighing in excess of 50 pounds.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, initiative, self-sufficiency & teamwork skills.

  • Have an exemplary work record, including high productivity, reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn new skills, and a cordial, cooperative personality.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail and appropriate written and oral communication, reading, clerical, basic math, and computer skills, including the ability to use e-mail and Microsoft Office, SAP, and CAD (Solid Edge, Creo View) software.

Work Environment:

  • Working outdoors (at test fields or construction sites, in all kinds of weather conditions).

  • Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt).

  • Temperature extremes, both hot and cold.

  • Use of personal protective equipment as specified in the Safety Policy, plus specific departmental requirements as needed (respirator, hard hat, electric insulating gloves/boots, etc.).

  • Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, electrical arc-welding equipment, and materials handling.

  • Working with hazardous materials, including gasoline, diesel, solvents, oils, grease, and pressurized gases and fluids.

  • Variable duties, workloads, and priorities.  Changes often happen with little advance notice.

  • Typical 9-hour workdays, but can be less or more, with work on different shifts and weekends when necessary.

  • A high level of teamwork and cooperation with supervisors, engineers, designers, and co-workers.

  • Occasional overnight travel.
