The Mail & Shipping/Receiving Clerk sorts incoming mail and packages for distribution. Verifies and maintains records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Operates powered industrial truck, pallet jack and uses various material handling devices to load, unload, push, pull, lift, stack or move products, equipment or materials.
Wage: $24.56 per hour
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail, mailers, and packages.Sorts mail and packages according to destination and type.Wraps or bundles printed material.Weighs mail to determine postage.Stamps outgoing mail by hand or postage meter.Processes certified and registered mail.
- Logs and delivers packages and cartons to recipients.
- Prepares items for shipping by labeling and wrapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Uses material handling equipment to load/unload and transport equipment, supplies, materials, etc. to the proper location.May include weighing and sorting goods by box, skid, etc.
- Identifies, counts, verifies, and checks incoming and outgoing material, supplies, equipment, samples, product, warranty items, and parts against shipping documents for verification (rates, identification, quality, quantity, carrier, etc.).Reviews transactions to ensure accuracy.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Experience: One year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Training: Powered industrial truck and manual material handling equipment.
- Computer Skills: Must have the ability to effectively use a personal computer and associated software.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Certificates, Licenses: Current, valid driver’s license. Powered industrial truck operator.

- Physical Conditions: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
