TheCustodianis responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment across assigned facilities. This role exists at two levels with duties and expectations increasing in scope and complexity at the higher level.

Starting Pay:$23.03 per hour

2nd Shift:Monday – Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm with overtime when needed.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:  

  • Responsible for interior of building (office & plant) by sweeping and mopping floors, emptyingwaste containers. Must be observant to detect any unusual conditions or cleaning necessary in the plant.

  • Separate cardboard from waste and bail in hydraulic machines.

  • Separate other recyclable items, i.e. metal, paper, plastics, & place in designated containers.

  • Work with outside vendors to manage daily pick up of material

  • May do minor painting, material handling

  • Other duties as assigned

What Do You Need?  

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:  

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 0–2 years of maintenance or related experience, helpful.

  • Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and reliability.

  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with a variety of cross-functional teams.

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards

  • Must be certified to operate a forklift or ability to obtain certification

Career Progression:

This position is part of a two-level career track. Advancement is not automatic and depends on the following:

  • Availability of an open Level II position within the department

  • Demonstrative performance, technical proficient and leadership capabilities

  • Proactive learning of Level II requirements

  • Recommendation from management and successful completion of internal job application process.

Basic Mental Requirements:This job requires mental capabilities to efficiently prioritize tasks ranging from material handling and transporting products.  Furthermore, the incumbent must have a high degree of attention to prevent injury to others. 

Working Conditions and Exposures:Working conditions vary. Exposures include moving equipment/machinery, noise, vibration, heat, and some moderate climate variability.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):This position requires the use of PPE. Safety glasses, hearing protection, footwear with steel-toe and metatarsal guards. Other PPE may be task specific or required based on the job or department: gloves, face shield, high visibility vest, FR clothing, respirator, etc. Training on PPE standards, use, and hazard awareness will be provided.
