The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes across the production flow - from parts receiving through welding, powder coating, assembly, and shipment. Establishes labor time standards to meet production requirements and coordinates projects to achieve schedule objectives. Other duties as assigned..
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Establishes and maintains engineered time standards for direct labor operations.
Defines, documents, and optimizes manufacturing processes for assembly processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
Review current product designs and recommend modifications that minimize costs and effectively apply production capabilities.
Oversees the installation of equipment, methods and processes as related to accomplishment of goals.
Works with department supervisors and value stream to implement new methods and processes.
Acts as liaison with engineering regarding engineering trouble shooting pertaining to the manufacture of current and new products.
Makes recommendations for improving safety, quality, or productivity activities.
Coordinates projects using in-house resources and outside resources to meet project costs and time schedules.
Must be familiar with OSHA requirements and recommends corrective action to ensure OSHA standards are met. Complete assigned safety audits.
Implements proper ergonomics in workstation setup, processes, tooling and safety equipment.
Assist New Products Engineer in coordinating new part/product manufacturing introductions. a. This includes establishing: Routings for parts, weldments, and assemblies. c.Requirements for jigs, fixtures, and tooling.c. Assembly methods, fixtures, and procedures.d. Quality assurance, including required gauging and process controls.
Recommend changes in parts specifications, manufacturing processes, and production methods to improve quality, economy, efficiency, and manufacturability.
Prepare feasibility studies to support equipment purchases, make/buy decisions, etc.
Perform time studies and analyze data to improve flow of product and material through Manufacturing and Assembly.
Analyze plant layout and coordinate changes to accomplish lean production goals.
Perform Value Analysis engineering activities.
Prepare presentations and present information to individuals and groups. 18. Through behavior and communication, maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
Meet or exceed typical expectations for engineering competence, productivity, creativity, and safety.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor of Engineering degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or related field.
Engineer II-Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Engineer III-Minimum of 5+years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of heavy machinery manufacturing processes.
Knowledge or experience with assembly tooling and equipment design.
Microsoft software, SAP or equivalent knowledge. Basic CAD experience (ACAD, Creo, Windchill, ect)
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must be a team player.
Good interpersonal skills and works well with all employees.
Have an excellent work record, including indications of strong self-motivation, high productivity, reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn new skills, and a cordial, cooperative personality.
Knowledge of Lean methods used in manufacturing processes.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $84300 - $121000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
