As the Material Planner, this position ensures seamless material flow and production support through strategic planning and coordination. It involves coordinating supply chain activities, maintaining inventory alignment with company policies, and resolving issues to keep production running smoothly and efficiently. While also contributing to the training and development of new planners.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Daily Operations & Communication:
Participate in daily Tier meetings to communicate material status
Coordinate with engineering, quality and internal materials teams
Report supply chain problems in a timely manner and work with suppliers to resolve issues
Assists in the issuance of lines down reports
Material Planning & Inventory Management
Develop the material requirements for assigned commodities using all Toro SAP information, planned order and buy information
Participate in critical need activities to support Production Planning
Plan purchase orders and JIT materials within inventory, freight costs
Firm release specifying quantities and delivery dates utilizing the desired inventory level policies. Maintain the A, B, and C policies as prescribed for planning buckets
Ensure material is available to meet production needs
Supplier & Transportation Coordination
Collaborate with the buyer and vendor to resolve all supply issues and ensure timely delivery
Coordinate all transportation activities for assigned commodities, keeping the overall costs within the optimum cost and time parameters. Follow the Tomah/Toro freight policies
Team Support & Development
Onboards and trains new planners, sharing knowledge, and best practices to support team development
What Do You Need:
High School Diploma or GED, technical certification preferred
1-3 years of relevant experience in supply chain, procurement, demand planning, or warehousing. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for working with internal and external customers
Exceptional critical thinking skills
Strong computer skills including MS office products and ability to learn ERP systems
Strong organizational skills
Attention to detail
Demonstrated self-initiative
Strong interpersonal skills in working with a variety of cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.
Work with a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks as needed
Core business hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM; however, this exempt position requires availability beyond the standard 40-hour workweek as needed.
