The Paint Engineering Technician oversees the daily operations of the paint finishing systems, ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. This role supervises paint technicians and maintenance staff, manages budgets, and coordinates with internal teams and external vendors. 

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Supervise and direct daily operations of paint finishing equipment and staff (Paint Finishing Technician(s) and Paint Maintenance Mechanic(s)).

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to maintain 99% system uptime.

  • Evaluate and justify capital expenditures for equipment upgrades.

  • Manage operating budgets for labor, paint, chemicals, and repairs.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations; prepare and submit required reports (E.P.A., D.N.R., and other regulatory agencies).

  • Maintain inventory of consumables, repair parts, and supplies.

  • Train personnel on equipment operation, chemical handling, safety, and system software.

  • Adherence to Toro’s Total Quality Management (TQM) practices.

  • Review and follow up of Q.C. performance testing and analysis.

  • Monitor and analyze quality control data; implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Track and display key operating parameters of the paint and pretreatment systems

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Troubleshoot processes issues to minimize downtime and quality deviations.

  • Maintain accurate MSDS documentation in compliance with Right-To-Know regulations.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams.

  • Partner suppliers to implement process improvements and new technologies

  • Develop and maintain paint SOP’s and paint production tooling.

  • Schedule work effectively

  • Flexible work schedule as required

  • All other duties as assigned.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 5-7+ years in high-volume manufacturing or comparable process environment with demonstrated results required.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes

  • Strong math skills

  • Strong understanding of chemistry, chemical terms and relationships

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong computer and MS Office skills

  • Strong clerical skills to prepare orders and maintain records

  • Ability to work nontraditional schedules, on call or alternate work schedules

  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces

  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics preferred

  • Must be forklift certified or have ability to obtain certification

  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with a variety of cross-functional teams. 

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards 

Preferred experience:

  • Associate degree or Technical diploma preferred.

Competitive Salary The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between ​$66900​ - ​$84000​. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
