The Shag Truck Driver is responsible for a variety of functions including driving a yard truck, daily maintenance of the vehicle, DMV/OSHA certification, timely & efficient movement of trailers/product from one location to another to ensure full support of the Distribution Center and Manufacturing plant.

Starting Pay: $25.53 per hour

1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 7am - 3pm, with overtime when needed.

What Will You Do?  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:  

  • Receives verbal or written orders to move trailers from one location to another location. 
  • Responsible for gaining a working knowledge of the proper procedures for moving trailers for each location (DC and Plant). 
  • Must operate the yard truck in a safe manner and is responsible for damage caused by the operation of the truck. 
  • Must continually work & conduct self in a manner that will ensure safe working conditions throughout the plants, property and public roads. 
  • Responsible for proper care, cleanliness, and maintenance of the assigned equipment. 
  • Perform daily DOT inspections and maintain work logs as required. 
  • Maintain an accurate yard check. 
  • Responsible for reporting improper operation of yard trucks and any safety incidents. 
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate movement of all trailers to maintain all the functions of the Tomah facilities. 
  • Able to move in and out of the vehicle, open and close trailer doors, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed. 
  • Maintain an orderly yard: ensure the correct trailers are in the correct locations and that they are parked in a manner consistent with policy. 
  • Must be able to operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

What Do You Need? 

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Class A Commercial Driver License and Medical card required. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle up to 45 lbs regularly. 
  • Able to maintain OSHA certification to operate powered industrial vehicles as needed 
  • Ability to follow standardized work, processes, and maintain safety and quality compliance. 
  • Team-oriented mindset and willingness to support continuous improvement. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with a variety of cross-functional teams.   
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.

Basic Mental Requirements: This job requires mental capabilities to efficiently prioritize tasks ranging from material handling and transporting products.  Furthermore, the incumbent must have a high degree of attention to prevent injury to others.  

Working Conditions and Exposures: Working conditions vary. Exposures include moving equipment/machinery, noise, vibration, heat, and some moderate climate variability. 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): This position requires the use of PPE. Safety glasses, hearing protection, footwear with steel-toe and metatarsal guards. Other PPE may be task specific or required based on the job or department: gloves, face shield, high visibility vest, FR clothing, respirator, etc. Training on PPE standards, use, and hazard awareness will be provided.
