The Operations Engineering Manager for manufacturing engineering leads the manufacturing engineering team to support current production operations as well as the transition of work to the site through new product development or transfer of work from another site. This manager is expected to be future-focused by leading the development of long-range capital plans. These plans include optimizing the efficiency of current processes and machinery, future new product introduction readiness, and facility upgrades. The role ensures that engineering, quality controls, and lean principles are present throughout the production process. This leader also serves as a focal point for the development and execution of an automation and technology plan for the site that maximizes the use of space and workforce resources. This position is also responsible for driving the professional development of the technical team to ensure that employees are supported, equipped, and empowered to excel.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team

  • Remain in alignment with, and in full support of, the site lean deployment strategy

  • Lead the development of long-range capital planning for facilities maintenance, mechanical upgrades, production machinery maintenance/upgrades, new product introduction readiness, process improvements, and integration of automation/technology

  • Facilitate the development of the 5-year site layout plan as a guide to maximize manufacturing efficiencies and space utilization

  • Lead the planning and design of production processes and equipment including workflow

  • Conduct studies of production methods, margin expansion, and other economic elements

  • Apply approved manufacturing engineering methods to improve performance, reduce waste, and promote cost reduction and efficiency

  • Support all activities associated with maintaining ISO 90001 compliance and certification

  • Administer and lead financial management by creating an effective budget, monitoring ongoing expenses, and taking action to achieve site financial targets

  • Establish performance metrics that drive behavior on the factory floor and within work teams in alignment with site initiatives and strategies

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of heavy machinery manufacturing processes

  • Possess a strong work record, including proof of self-motivation, high productivity, reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn new skills, and positive team interaction

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills including the ability to deliver effective group presentations.

Competitive Salary The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between ​$117900 - ​$150000​. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
