What Will You Do?

As part of the Ditch Witch® division of The Toro Company, this individual will contribute to industry-leading innovation in the development of Ditch Witch® products. The intern will work with and have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:

Interns will be assigned design responsibilities which will involve the development of new Ditch Witch® construction equipment.

  • Typical duties include design of the operator interface and external appearance features of product.
  • Generate design concepts through visual and verbal communication.
  • Assisting other designers by means of 3D modeling, rendering, and prototyping.
  • Actively participating in team critiques to share your design point of view.
  • Working with a cross-functional teams to meet the requirements of design and product goals.
  • Design research, sketching, human factors layout, physical mock-up development and 3D computer modeling.
  • Generate concepts for innovative products and features based on provided criteria.
  • Plan and participate in ideation exercises, engineering research, design, development, manufacturing, and other methods the team may discover to develop a successful product.
  • Collaborate with engineering, industrial design, technical groups, and others to develop, implement, and monitor the progress of a given project.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Located at the Ditch Witch® division headquarters in Perry, OK.
  • Regular, extended use of a computer and misc. lab tools on occasions.
  • Office environment most of the time, lab work for construction of mock-ups, trips to the shop and test fields.
  • Use of PPE: safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Industrial Design, Engineering or similar field at an accredited College or University.
  • Digital and physical prototyping skills.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates wide-ranging concept exploration, 3D modeling and rendering skill, and a clear process that is visually appealing.
  • Some Solid Edge or other solid modeler experience required.
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Keyshot and or Rhino experience required.
  •  Experience or demonstrated interest in rapid prototyping / model shop environment.
  •  Attention to detail, excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Strong sense of accountability and integrity.
  • Ability to deal with change and work in a dynamic environment.

  • Competitive Pay – anticipated pay $21.00 to $28.00 per hour and is dependent on year completed in school.
