Who Are We?

Toro’s Irrigation and Lighting business is located in Riverside, CA. The Toro Company’s irrigation business is comprised of two distinct brands, Toro® and Irritrol®. Both brands offer a full line of solid, dependable, irrigation products including controllers, sensors, valves, spray heads and rotors to help customers care for golf courses, sports fields, public green spaces, commercial and residential properties. Unique Lighting Systems is a leading brand of professional grade lighting fixtures, low voltage transformers, LED lamps and the patented HUB system for installation. Serving both residential and commercial markets, Unique Lighting Systems offers a full line of outdoor lighting products.

The Toro Company Irrigation & Lighting Division has an opening for a Product Marketing Manager, Residential & Commercial Irrigation Products, based out of Riverside, CA. This individual will be responsible for all product planning and NPD functions within the sprinkler and valve product lines. This individual will be the internal "expert" of his/her product line(s) and must possess technical AND creative prowess. The Product Marketing Manager (PM) duties include (but are not limited to): new product development, quality control, competitive analysis, forecasting, cost reduction/profit enhancement & operational efficiency. PMs also consult with channel marketing, marketing communications & sales teams on promotions, literature & media. Qualified applicants must be organized and able to work effectively in a solo environment and a team.

What Will You Do?

  • Continuously analyzes current market conditions, competitive product offerings, and regulatory actions that could impact the business.

  • Collaborates with sales, finance, production, sourcing, engineering and marketing colleagues to accomplish objectives.

  • Defines new product requirements in conjunction with channel marketing & sales teams.

  • Manages product manufacturing cycle, fill rate and inventory to ensure on-time delivery

  • Represents the marketing team & irrigation business at trade shows & events. Provides high-level field support if necessary.

  • Manages the technical product catalog for the designated line.

  • Assists (as needed) with program development to achieve sales and profitability goals.

  • Interfaces with all types of customers and channel partners to help meet their needs. Customer-driven philosophy to provide the highest level of service and support.

  • Provides speeches/presentations to industry professionals, colleagues and customer groups.

  • Attitude: Possess a positive attitude; be enthusiastic and driven to succeed. Best qualities should show in pressure-filled situations. Above-board ethics are a MUST.

What Do You Need?

  • To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform all essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to meet these standards.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning is required. An MBA or other graduate degree is a plus.

  • Experience: 5+ years in marketing, engineering, project/product management, irrigation or another related field desired. Strong communication and networking skills are required to be successful. Must be skilled in leading cross-functional teams.

  • Travel: Up to 15% travel may be required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience managing product lines or projects is a big plus.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Programs is strongly desired. Experience with Enterprise CRMs, Microsoft SharePoint, PDMLink, SAP or Concur is a plus.

  • Able to speak in front of large groups with confidence while presenting technical information.

  • Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $120,000 - $150,000.
