Your Opportunity:

Toro is looking for an Evening 2nd Shift Materials Supervisor in Tomah, WI. This person leads a materials team and has overall responsibility for the performance and continuous improvement. This includes planning and assigning work, training, facilitating problem solving, and communicating policies.  This role will facilitate and coordinate the receiving, warehousing and/or shipping of parts and finished product while assuring that the inventory accuracy is maintained.   Ensure that all customer service and productivity requirements are met.  Ensures day to day operations are fulfilled in an effective and consistent manner. 

This position is 2nd shift Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays during peak needs.   The employees work on a 2:00 PM to 10:00PM or 3:30 PM to Midnight as the standard shift.  Supervisors are expected to arrive early and stay later than the team for shift change.

Work Location:

This opportunity is on-site at The Toro Company, in Tomah, WI.   Supervisor candidates should prepare for 5-days on-site for the majority of the schedule. 

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Direct efforts of the receiving, warehouse, and shipping areas to ensure timely shipment of cost-effective, high-quality products. Monitor cost center performance and maintain budgets within approved limits.

  • Supervises all employees assigned to him/her and is responsible for training, discipline, pay adjustments, vacation scheduling, and performance measurement of each individual. Assists with and communicates performance objectives, providing the context and meaningful targets for team members. 

  • Plan daily departmental needs based on workload information & schedules.  Controls manpower and overtime needs within schedule and budget constraints. Perform timely relevant performance evaluations.

  • Assists with establishing metrics regarding people, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation; manages and encourages discussion pertinent to team members.  Drives a structured continuous improvement process. 

  • Responsible for creating an environment which values employees, serves our customers, and provides a fair return to shareholders. Model and promote 5S practices and safe working conditions.

Job Title:  

At the time of a job offer, the Supervisor job level will be determined based on the following criteria: 

  • Supervisor I:   HS or equivalent (Bachelors preferred) and 1-2 years of relevant manufacturing experience.        

  • Supervisor II:  HS or equivalent (Bachelors preferred) and 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field.  Will also accept High School or equivalent, with relevant work experience.

  • 2-3+ years of experience in a relevant setting.  Experience with leading evening shift preferred.

  • Self-motivated with excellent project and time management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills – professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful Strong process, problem solving and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP) is preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, intermediate knowledge of Excel is required.
