Reporting to the plant Quality Manager - plan, analyze, administer, and coordinate the Quality departmental functions for the site. Write and revise methods and processes, as necessary, to ensure quality of the manufacture products, and assemblies. Design, implement and maintain processes and systems to improve or assure the quality of component manufacturing. Compare actual performance to customer requirements and utilize projects to improve quality. Function as the primary source of effective communication between Quality Department and other teams internal/external to Toro. Lead a team of Quality personnel, conducting all necessary management functions. Champion the timely resolution of Quality Notifications through utilization of Quality tools for corrective & preventive action. Create and execute systems that will assure our customers’ requirements are achieved and maintained. Analyze the performance of our QMS and drive continual improvement.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitor quality performance metrics for the department / site. Report findings to management and champion activities to address gaps / ensure success of the team.

  • Conduct & coach data analysis, containment, root cause analysis, problem solving, & continual improvement activities throughout the site. Work with other departments, including Design, Sourcing, Operations, Lean, Customer Care, and Manufacturing Engineering to drive improvement and a quality-focused culture.

  • Represent Quality team in management meetings, including daily Tiered meetings, as appropriate.

  • Develop & implement quality tools / documentation such as procedures, standards, process flows, control plans, PFMEA, MSA, AQP, PPAP, etc. to ensure Process Certification.

  • Conduct & assist in the maintenance of quality audits systems (both process and QMS) of the site. Support audit systems in place across Toro.

  • Assist in the training & mentoring of personnel performing inspection activities, including proper usage of inspection gaging.

  • Represent Toro to distributors & customers to solve problems and improve customer satisfaction.

  • Create risk assessments & quality plans when launching new products or transferring products between facilities.

  • Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) to disposition suspect material in a timely manner and ensure proper processes are adhered to.

  • Perform daily activities and/or projects under direction of the Quality Manager to achieve strategic departmental goals.

  • Manage team of Technicians / Inspectors within the plant Quality department

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • A minimum of five years leading quality/lean within a manufacturing organization.

  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills utilizing formal quality techniques.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, technical blueprints & standards, financial reports and legal documents. 

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent technical/professional training.

  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Engineering.

 Preferred:

  • CQE or higher certifications from ASQ.

  • 2+ years of project management experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • 2+ years of management experience

  • Working knowledge of Minitab, or other analytical software.

  • Working knowledge/experience of measuring tools and calibration systems.

  • ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / AS9100 system & audit experience.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Strong statistical analysis experience.

It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
